Letter to the Editor, Port Macquarie News: 31.1.2010

We would like to thank Blue Poles Byabarra and Port News, for running the recent competition for accommodation and meals at Blue Poles.

My wife and I went on a Saturday night and we had our dinner on the verandah, taking in the view and the sunset up the valley. The hospitality from the owner, Ian, and staff was very friendly, and the meals we chose were delicious... The accommodation lived up to the 4.5 star rating from the NRMA, and a dip in the pool on Saturday afternoon went down a treat.

Blue Poles is an easy drive, about 20 minutes from Wauchope, and an ideal place to recharge.

Thank you Blue Poles and Port News.

Mother’s Day a Happy Day at Blue Poles

Blue Poles Café & Gallery in Byabarra was humming last weekend with a full house for Sunday Mothers' Day luncheon. Loved ones and friends brought their beloved mums for a spoil and to celebrate the occasion.

The Blue Poles crowd exuded fun and joy, the ambiance fit to rival bon vivants anywhere. First timers and regulars enjoyed their sojourn and not even a few cloudbursts could dampen their spirits while guests were treated to a three course gourmet meal with a choice of entrée, mains as well as mouth watering desserts.

The Mothers' Day Spoil Prize
The Mothers' Day Spoil Prize - a deluxe midweek overnight package for two at the luxurious 4.5 star Blue Poles B&B Studio Apartment valued at over $250 was won by Colleen Stonehouse. (pictured below) A delightful two year old Miss Pearl Bennetts (below) competently drew the winning entry form.

A delighted Colleen said she was thrilled to win and very excited at the prospect of her deluxe spoil at Blue Poles.

Last year’s prize winner Michelle and Greg Black of Port Macquarie had this to say of their stay at Blue Poles B&B: “Just perfect! The best getaway we have ever had! The peace and tranquility here is wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Excerpt from the 6-page ‘Regional Profile’ editorial feature on Greater Port Macquarie, in Wellbeing Magazine. March 2009

Follow the Oxley Highway out of Wauchope and turn left into Comboyne Road for a beautiful drive beneath the shadow of Bago Bluff, through farmland and rainforest, climbing up the mountain to Comboyne. Around halfway is the tiny village of Byabarra, a collection of houses perched on a ridgeline overlooking the Thone River Valley. It's one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it places: a two-roomed primary school, a church, School of Arts hall, public telephone booth and a fabulous café and art gallery.

Blue Poles is one of those almost mythic places you all too occasionally stumble across in country NSW: an out-of-the-way place that really does make good coffee! Not to mention lunches, heavenly cakes and with local wine, served on a large deck with sweeping views over the valley. Inside is a large gallery with exhibitions by well-known contemporary Australian artists.
